Le Grange Gites

Hi Simon and Lesley - Willow Gite - September 2016

We had a lovely holiday

Thank you very much

John will send you a birding list for your website when we return home

We hope you are enjoying your trip away and wish you all the best

Kind regards

Elaine and John, USA, September 2016

Our September 2016 two-week break was just perfect!

The Gites are very clean and well equipped.

We love the fact that we had beautiful views of farmland, and the Gite felt remote, whilst only being ten minutes drive from two large supermarkets.

Lesley and Simon are on hand to help and their fresh produce is really tasty!

It's great to have access to the pool, but definitely don't miss the Josselin fishing lake owned by Lesley and Simon! It's very pretty and Josselin is worth a visit!

We also recommend a day or two down at Puy Du Fou (medieval theme park) and a trip to Quiberon for the beach and little shops!

Massive thank you's to The Barron family for such a lovely stay.....we will certainly be back!!

20th August to 3rd September 2016

Second visit here, and sure it won't be the last. We have had yet another fantastic holiday with the most amazing weather for the whole fortnight.

Have had quite a lazy two weeks mainly chilling by the pool on sun loungers enjoying the sun and eating produce from Simon and Lesley's garden which was just as good as last year.

Had a couple of really good meals one at Creperie L'Epi Dor in Locmine which we visited last year too, then a wonderful evening at Aux 4 Saisons (in Moreac) on the last night. The prices here make it a treat meal, rather than something you could do a number of times but the food was out of this world!

Thanks again Simon and Lesley for everything, this is a perfect home from home.

See you again

6th to 20th August 2016

Thank you for an amazing 2 weeks we have enjoyed every day.

Branfére and Kingoland have been a family favourite and Simon's fruit and Veg are delicious.

All excellent as always. Everything is always well maintained and clean and tidy, you always make us fell so welcome.

Thank you for also lending us beach stuff too when our car broke down.

Phil, Wendy, Rebecca and Caitlin, Oxfordshire, August 2016

6th to 20th August 2016

A fantastic holiday, in a great area, in fantastic Gite. From the time we arrived to our last day everything was perfect even the things Simon and Lesley could not control, the weather was great and even the other families were very friendly and we all got on well

The Gite was wonderful clean and comfortable and well equipped, a real home from home, nothing seems to be too much trouble for Simon and Lesley and they even supply fresh produce from their own garden if guest would like them.

The fishing lake is a great extra which comes with the stay (fishing extra) and we spent many days there. Also found many new places to visit including Ile aux Moines and a fantastic motor museum at Loheac hopefully we will be back next year.

Marty, Yolanda and William, Saltash, Cornwall, August 2016

6th August to 20th August 2016

This is the first visit to the “Gites” but certainly will not be the last

We have found the Gites to be in a great position in order to get to the beaches and also the amazing towns of “Josselin and Vannes”, if you love shopping, Vannes is amazing!!

Suscino Chateau is beautiful, the beach is shale but still worth a visit as the setting is amazing and our girls loved it

Lesley and Simon have been great hosts and nothing is too much trouble!

The girls have really enjoyed the pool and will miss it when we are home!

We will definitely be visiting again as there are still a few places left to explore, and even places we have been to, I want to go again as we enjoyed it so much.

Do use the “Gite Lake” and walk along to Josselin as it's breath-taking

Thank you Simon and Lesley and family

We will be in touch

PS good information packs, we nearly completed them!

Ben, Keeley, Florence & Minty, Leicester, August 2016

We really enjoyed the stay at your Gite. - Cider House

The area around Brittany is lovely and your information pack gave us lots of ideas of things to do and places to visit.

In addition you have put a great deal of thought into making the Gite itself a relaxing place to spend time and with loads to keep the children of all ages occupied, both outside in the garden and inside.

The grandchildren really enjoyed themselves and I really appreciated the quality of the accommodation.

I will certainly put you on my list to recommend to others and for a possible return trip.

The Goodwin Family, July – August 2016

23rd July to 6th August 2016 - Willow Gite

We've had a fantastic fortnight here with our two boys aged 7 and 4

They've loved the gardens, pool and cycling to the village for bread, with visiting to the playground and park

There's so much to see and do, two weeks just weren't enough, nut our highlights were:

Kingoland – both boys enjoyed immensely, great for under 10's

Parc Le P'tit Delire – as above, good simple Breton fun, take their swimming trunks for the splash parc, a full day

Foret Adrenaline – This was fab and very reasonable! Similar to Go-Ape but lots of different courses for varying ages, would definitely go again. (We combined this with the karting nearby which both boys enjoyed)

Quiberon – The train is a bargain as kids go free (Under 12's), then a short walk from the station to the beach

We also went for a picnic at the lake at Nazin, great for a stroll around (or with scooters etc.) and the rope barge (free) is great fun!

On a grey day, the Poete Ferrailleur museum in Lizio will capture everyone's attention for a couple of hours, and many of the exhibits are inside – fantastic interactive machines made from scrap metal. (Note closes for lunch!!)

The beaches near Erdeven are good for surfing / body boarding (we went to Ste Barbe) although the sand was quite sharp here.

We had a lovely day in Josselin, with lunch on the square before a trip to the Chateau. Our 7 year old enjoyed the treasure hunt in the gardens although the inside tour was a little dry and difficult to follow for the children

We visited Vannes on market day (Saturday) – the market is busy! but a feast for the eyes and senses!

Locally we ate twice at Churrascos in Locmine. First for pizzas with the kids then taking advantage of Lesley's wonderful babysitting services for a rare grown up meal out! Both times were great, and the service was excellent – would definitely return!

The kids have loved feeding the chickens and rabbit, and nothing has been to much trouble for Simon and Lesley who have been wonderful hosts

Thanks for a fantastic fortnight – we sincerely hope to return in the future as there's so much we haven't had time to do!

Best wishes for the future

Liz, Nick, Joseph (7) and Thomas (4), West Loughton, Bolton, July – August 2016

05-08-2016 – Ivy Gite

We have had a great week, the Gite is a great base to explore from and our kids age 12,10 and 2 have all enjoyed the facilities and feeding the chickens and rabbit!

We have been able to relax knowing that our very lively 2 year old has a safe garden to let of steam in and they have all loved the pool

We chose to stay here as we have friends who live nearby and it has worked out very well

We have visited:

Parc Prehistoire – very good

Parts of Nazin, Reguiny and Moreac all lovely

Poete Ferraileur – Fantastic – really recommended

The swimming pool complex in Pontivy – Brilliant for all ages – we all loved it, plenty for the kids, if you go in the afternoons in the summer holidays there is a big inflatable for the older kids and we all loved the water slides. Great toddler area too and very reasonable prices

Josselin – very pretty

Le refuge des loups de coat fer – the Wolf sanctuary in Lescouet, Goureac wonderful to see rescued wolves in as natural environment as possible, also rescued deer, horses, dogs, cats and pigs! Picnic areas and a beautiful walk through ancient woodland which tells the tale of haw wolves sadly became extinct in the wild and explains how they used to live here in France, no English spoken here and not the easiest to find but the sat nav will get you there!

We would certainly recommend the fresh produce available from Simon and Lesley, our favourites were then Jam and tomatoes were all really lovely!

Thank you for a great stay and a happy relaxing week

Best wishes

23rd July to 6th August 2016 - Bramble Gite

I came here 8 year ago to Lesley and Simons Gite “2008” with my parents but due to my dad having a bike accident we were not able to explore much as we came by aeroplane and did not have the use of a car. We have decided to return 8 years on to celebrate my dad's 50 th birthday here but we also brought my 6 year old daughter along too.

I'm really glad we returned, it's been a great experience and we have explored around lots of villages. Overall it's been an amazing holiday for us all! We will definitely return in the future

Thank you so much Lesley and Simon, best wishes the Murray family, Manchester July – August 2016

30-07-2016 - Ivy Gite

This is our 4th Visit here. We did not come last year. But we had so much fun this year! Loved the swimming pool.

We went to Kingoland, Parc O'Histoire (Dinosaurs), Josselin (walk along the canal)

I loved Kingoland it was full with fun rides.

We had a great week

Liam aged 7 years

We also ate in Churrasco's, and L'Epi Dor in Locmine and would recommend both

2nd to 16th July 2016 - Bramble Gite

An amazing holiday, couldn't have wished for more!

Kids and adults loved every minute.

Thank you Simon and Lesley for your warm welcome

Hopefully we will see you next year!

Best wishes, Gillian, Ian, Sophie and Evan

Dublin, Ireland, July 2016

18th June to 2nd July 2016

This was our 4th visit to Le Grange Gites and another really enjoyable relaxing holiday

Simon supplied us with lovely home grown vegetables, salad, tomatoes and strawberries. The free range eggs were also delicious

Trevor enjoyed his fishing in Simon and Lesleys lake in Josselin catching many Carp up to 8lbs and tench to 4 lbs. He also had 5 evening sessions at the lake in Radenac where he caught 10 fish: Common Carp 23 lbs, 14 3/4 lbs, 14 lbs, 13 lbs and 9 lbs, and Mirror Carp 23 lbs, 18 lbs, 16 1/2 lbs, 14 3/4 lbs and 14 lbs. All were caught on Pineapple boillie. Several very large fish also came off the hook!

We enjoyed several meals out at lunchtime - 4 courses including wine or cider for between 11 1/2 and 12 1/2 euros. Our favorite restaurant is Le Fasion Dore in Moreac - a 4 course meal with rose or red wine or cider with a big selection of disches. We also enjoyed Jo et Carmen's restaurant in Requiny which had fewer choices of starters and main courses.

For the first time we went to the Rive Gauche restaurant in Josselin for a 4 course lunch plus wine and coffee (this is just a short walk along the canal from Simon and Lesleys fishing lake) again this was good value and nice food.

We visitied the small war museum by the lake at Requiny which was really interesting with an English speaking guide who runs the museum - highly recommended

Malestroit and Josselin are well worth a visit.

Thank you Lesley and Simon for being wuch good hosts. Look forward to returning next year.

Valerie and Trevor, Torquay, Devon, June / July 2016

To Simon and Lesley

A beautiful setting out in the french countryside but within easy reach of local towns.

We travelled from the UK via the Eurotunnel and found it easy to get to by the motorways.

The owners are incredibly welcoming and ran a handy shop with delicious homegrown produce and all the essentials.

Each Gite had it's own private BBQ area and the communal garden had a swimming pool, as well as lots of play equipment for children.

We had a fabulous time away and would definitely recommend Le Grange Gites!

Thank you Simon and Lesley

4th to 18th June 2016

We've had a very relaxing fortnight in the Willow Gite

Simon and Lesley were very friendly and helpful and a bonus to have them on site – we stayed in many cottages in Brittan and never experienced this before.

Lovely quiet roads for cycling and also the Nantes-Brest canal path.

We parked at the Fishing Lake in Josselin and it was very easy to walk to Josselin from there

Favourite places – Josselin, Vannes, Rochefort en Terre

Favourite Restaurants – La Clochette and La Sarrazine

Thank you Simon and Lesley – We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Gite as a value for money option.

Thank you Brittany for the weather! Really hot first week and not much rain the second, back to wales now and the rain!

Valerie and John, St Martin de Landelles, Normandy, France, June 2016

June 4th - June 11th 2016

We have had a great week, gorgeous weather and a lovely area to explore.

Nothing was too much trouble for Lesley and Simon. The information books are well worth a read. If in doubt about parking or where to eat ask Lesley or Simon, then it makes for a stress free day.

Vannes is a lovely place and easy to drive into (following Simon's directions)

Quiberon, Arzon, Auray and Carnac are coastal places well worth a visit.

An evening stroll along the canal at Josselin and around the town is a nice way to enjoy the evening.

After our holiday we felt relaxed and refreshed and ready to continue our renovations in Normandy

So thank you very much Lesley and Simon

Val and John, St Martin de Landelles, Normandy, France, June 2016

21st May to 4th June 2016 – Bramble Gite

Simon and Lesley, thank you for a lovely Gite

Also for the help and advice you gave us

Best Wishes

Ann and Bryan, Stockton-On-Tees, May-June 2016

We have thoroughly enjoyed our Week + 2 days in Willow Gite, it impressed us from the minute we drove in the gates. Nothing was too much trouble for Simon and Lesley – ringing around on the day to find where we could buy fuel (during the fuel strike) this was really going to the extra mile.

We explored Brittany top to bottom and west to east and found some real gems. We really liked Quimper and Malestroit, and then we found Moncontour which was just fabulous.

Coming from Australia where our history is very young, these medieval villages just often so nice to see. Another place we enjoyed was Saints-Anne d Auray.

The information Supplied within the Gite is just fantastic – it means you can get out straight away and start enjoying.

The restaurant list and map of places within the Gite for Locmine made it easy to find everything.

Thank you Simon and Lesley for giving us a wonderful location from which to enjoy our holiday, this is a long way from Australia, but maybe one day we will come back.

Pam and Rob, Victoria, Australia, May 2016

28th May to 4th June 2016

This was our second visit to the Gites.

This time we stopped in the Ivy Gite, which was nice and spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. The Gites are ideal for a family and our two boys really (5 and 2) enjoyed the various play items and the colouring cabin in the bottom of the garden. The hosts, Simon and Lesley, are very nice and know lots about the local area..

There are lots of places close by to explore, with some lovely beaches about 45 mins drive away - Damgan is a small seaside town with a nice sandy beach and some rock pools exposed as the tide goes out. Ile aux Moines is a small island with a nice little centre and some nice beaches - it is a short ferry ride which costs a couple of euros.

There are plenty of historic towns and villages close by and a number of places for days out. We went out of season this time (late May), so it was a bit quieter, but there were still lots of restaurants open - these do tend to close between lunch and dinner.

This time we visited a number of local towns - Josselin, which has a large medieval castle and a lovely nature walk, a bit like a country park; Reguiny, which has a large park with a lake and also a small museum focussing on the local wartime history. The lady who runs it was very nice and spoke excellent English - she showed us round and talked about a majority of the artefacts she has collected over the years.

For days out we visited. Branfére, about an hour's drive, is a wildlife park. It is really nice (this was the second time we went there) with lots to see, from rhino through to giraffes. There is also a large net walk suspended in the trees, which was good fun.

We also went to Tropical Parc, again around an hour to get to. This has various themed gardens and lots of tropical birds, with some walk through aviaries, as well as a section with some animatronic dinosaurs, which the kids loved. This was a nice afternoon out, with an interesting bird show included.

In all, it was a very nice place to visit. The Gites were a really good base to explore the area from, as well as being nice to just stop at and relax in the lovely countryside surroundings.

There are still a lot of places which we would like to see in the area and so will most likely be stopping here again in the near future.

The Goodale Family, Nottingham, May - June 2016

Dear Simon and Lesley

We both enjoyed our stay, and found the Gite extremely comfortable and well-arranged. Good parking outside, and supportive and welcoming hosts.

Great supply of hot water, and plenty of wood for a woodburner that was easy to operate, and heated the gite effectively in the middle of February.

We needed a place to stay while we were working on a building locally, and it was ideally set up for that, with very fair pricing and the possibility of flexible booking arrangements out of season.

In the summer the garden and the outside facilities would be a plus, and the local village of Moreac has a good small supermarket and fantastic bakers. Sheltered and off-road.

Best of luck, and thank you for receiving us off-season - not all do that, and it is important.

Best wishes (and good fishing!), Graham, Devon, February 2016
