Le Grange Gites

We first stayed at Le Grange on the strength of its location, the tourist attractions nearby and the benefit of a shared back garden behind the gites for our kids to play in.

Lesley and Simon's warm welcome kicked off an excellent fortnight's holiday.

The gites are good value for money and the shared back garden was a fun and safe environment for kids to play in.

The local village and towns had plenty of shops and restaurants and we also managed to visit a some excellent tourist attractions.

We enjoyed it so much, we booked the same weeks the following year. As luck would have it, two of the other families who were staying at Le Grange did so as well. For three families to commit to a fortnight's holiday two years in a row hopefully speaks for itself.

Many thanks for looking after us!
Roger, Laura, Imogen (6/7) & Ben (3/4). Stayed Summer 2014 & Summer 2015.

25th September to 10th October 2015

We spent the most wonderful 2 weeks here, so much to see and do.

From the beautiful market towns of Questembert and Josselin down to the Carnac Stones, and the long sandy beaches at Plouharnel

We cam as a family of 3 generations and there was something for everyone. Fishing, Surfing, Depot Ventes and Creperies

Simon and Lesley were wonderful hosts, eggs, jam and milk for those moments we had “forgotten” to buy.

Thank you both for all the advice and help

Brian, Trish and Family, Guernsey, September / October 2015

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you both for a most enjoyable stay.

The sun shone, and I had great sport with the fishing we also visited old places we knew and a lot of places we had never been.

We also brought back enough wine to last us until Christmas.

September 25th to October 3rd 2015

Absolutely wonderful week. Beautiful and quiet, Kids loved the garden, Fishing location very tranquil, Food delicious

Kids enjoyed feeding the chickens and daisy the rabbit every day.

Josselin is a lovely town and walk from the fishing lake to the town very scenic.

Highly recommended Gites and will be back for a family holiday.

Thank you, Simon and Lesley for such a warm welcome.

I have just spent 3 weeks at Le Grange Gites with my Grandson. We had a lovely time. Lesley and Simon were very welcoming on arrival and throughout our stay. Always ready to help be it with advice on the local area or produce from their garden.

The photos on their website of the Gites and garden do not do the place justice. If you like the photos, you will love the place. The Gites have all you need for your stay and are clean and spacious.

The garden is well equipped for children, they could easily spend the whole day their and not get bored.

All the places to visit on the out and about page are easy to get to and close by. In the 3 weeks that I was there we visited most of them. My favourite was the Chateau/sculpture Park. There is a café and restaurant and lovely walks round the gardens and lake.

I look forward to visiting Simon and Lesley again and would definitely recommend Le Grange Gites to friends and family.

Hi Simon and Lesley

Michele and I had a great time at the Gite. The location was excellent for visiting local towns and villages and the bars in Moreac were very friendly.

We didn't use your very inviting pool as our main purpose of our holiday was cycling which was ideal for on the Brest to Nantes canal.

The Wi-Fi and the English TV channels were a bonus after a day out. Looking forward to our next visit.

Regards

22nd August to 5th September 2015

Thank you so much for a lovely holiday

The girls have loved the garden and the Gite has been more than we could have wished for

Hope to see you again

The gites are in a lovely peaceful location, with good outdoor space and a nice safe environment for the kids to play in. The gites own gardens were nice to sit out in and there was plenty of space in the shared garden for the kids to run around, with play equipment, such as the slide, swings, trampoline and colouring shed.

We stopped in the largest gite, which was a really good size, equipped with everything you need for your stay. The whole site is very well maintained and the surrounding farmland and animals add to the very rural feel of the place.

The owners, Simon and Lesley were very welcoming. They are very respectful of their guests privacy but are available when you need them. The information books they have put together are a great point of reference and provide a wealth of information about places of interest, local amenities and useful contacts. Our eldest child enjoyed going round and feeding their chickens.

The nearest village, Moréac, has a lovely park with lots of play equipment and benches for picnics, as well as a lake. There are also a small number of shops and restaurants with reasonably priced menus.

The gites provided a good base for days out. A few of the places we visited - Branféré - a large zoo/animal park and gardens, designed so very few of the animals are caged. You can feed the Lamas and Wallabies. There is also a large walkway in the tree canopy, which was great fun. This was a really good day out.

The beach at Damgan is nice and sandy, with a lot of rock pools exposed when the tide is out. The town itself has free parking and a number of seaside shops and places to eat.

Íle-aux-Moines is a small island with some lovely beaches and places to sit and have a drink. There is a short ferry ride out to the Island which is under €5 per person. There is a very large car park near the ferry, but it does get very busy later in the day, so probably best to get there early.

Vannes - this is an attractive medieval town, with plenty of shops and places to eat and drink

The nearest town of Locminé has a small market on a Thursday and a number of cafés. We had a very nice meal at Le Churrasco in the town, which was in the main square overlooking the old medieval church façade. There is also a sizeable retail park in the area and a large supermarket with petrol station.

This was a lovely place to have a nice relaxing holiday with the family.

Paul Goodale and family, Nottingham, August 2015

We had a great holiday with you - very relaxed in a beautiful part of France.

The Gite and facilities were perfect for the four of us and the children made good use of the play equipment - Sophia loved the secret colouring house (as she called it).

We enjoyed lots of lovely day trips - plenty to see and do in the vicinity and particularly enjoyed our day on the beach at Quiberon and trying out all the pedal cars and giant wooden games at Pere Balade St Nicolas.

All in all a great family break - we would highly recommend it.

Caitlin – “there is something here for everyone and Lesley and Simon are really nice.”

Thank you again Lesley and Simon for making us feel very welcome and answering our many questions. The information books are very helpful. You always give us a lovely welcome – thank you

This Gite (Ivy Gite) has worked really well for us with 3 bedrooms. In the kitchen is everything you need and more. The beds are very comfortable. The pool again has been very popular – great at the end of the day.

We loved Branfere – lovely to feed the wallabies and Kingoland is really fun.

The local park at Moreac is great for younger children and older too.

Aux 4 Saisons – not cheap but amazing food

La Churasco – Delicious food – Lunchtime menu a bargain at 11.40 euros for 2 courses and coffee.

The beach at Damgan is sandy and nice and shallow

Thank you again,

Wendy, Phil, Rebecca and Caitlin, Oxfordshire, August 2015

We have just returned home from a fantastic 2-week stay at Cider House. The Gite was so spacious, clean and very well equipped and Lesley and Simon were lovely, friendly and very approachable hosts.

The garden was fully enjoyed by our boys and their cousins and it was great to have other families there too as a social bonus for kids and adults alike.

Some suggestions of local places to visit would be Pontivy, Josselin and the evening market at Port Louis (Near Lorient). We also visited the car museum at Loheac, which was excellent (particularly for the keen car fanatic). Lac au Duc was also great for the kids.

The Creperie L'Epi Dor in Locmine was excellent, as was Le Churrasco for local places to eat.

We have had a lovely stay at Le Grange and would definitely like to come back in the future.

Lynda, Paul, Joseph and Daniel, Northumberland, August 2015

1st to 8th August 2015

We have had a lovely stay in “Bramble”. Lesley and Simon were approachable, helpful and fantastic with our children (aged 3 and 5)

Before you go near the supermarket, look to see what Simon has to offer in the way of home produce: great quality at a very reasonable price.

As a family we enjoyed being in the communal area of the Gites. The girls loved the pool and it was a very safe place for them to play.

Highlights of our holiday were:

“Balade de Pere Nicolas” fantastic value and perfect for children our age

Train Journey from Auray to Quiberon (5.60 euros return for adults under 12's free!), lovely safe beach and the ice cream parlour with over 100 flavours is a must!

Josselin is a lovely town and the church tower is a manageable climb even with young children.

Lac au Duc is worth a visit and has a small (cheap) water park for children.

We have had a wonderful week here and hope to be back in the future.

Thank you Simon and Lesley

We have had the most amazing and chilled holiday here. The Gite is wonderful in everyway, Lesley and Simon, you are brilliant hosts and have a brilliant set-up and highly recommend all your fruit, veg and jams they are amazing.

It's a great place to explore from, would highly recommend Creperie L'Epi Dor in Locmine it's a lovely looking restaurant and the food is gorgeous including steaks and fries enjoyed by the teenage steak monster :)

Also had lunch at eh restaurant Jo et Carmen in Reguiny, massive 4 courses including all your drink for 12 euros! We didn't eat anything in the evening we were still that full!!

Feeling completely relaxed and totally chilled now at the end of the holiday.

We will be back :) , Thank you again

25th July to 1st August 2015.

We have just returned from a lovely relaxing week at Le Grange Gites, the Gites are airy and well equipped and Simon and Lesley are great hosts.

The garden and pool are fantastic for children and the fresh produce that Simon and Lesley sell from their impressive garden is very handy and very tasty.

There are lots to do in the area, the beach and town in Damgan are beautiful

Vannes City is really nice to explore and shop!

And the night market in Port-Louis (Tues Eve in July and August) is really good for buying souvenirs and for the children and adults to spend some holiday money!!

Louise and Family, Cambridgeshire, July / August 2015

25th July to 1st August 2015.

One week is not enough! So glad we stayed at Le Grange Gites, perfect environment for our two young boys who have loved the “paddling pool” (Grande!!) and playing in the garden.

The colouring hut is a lovely touch. Great to be able to borrow some DVD's for some down time or when the weather is not so great.

Thank you for being such friendly hosts, very helpful – thoughtful and the helpful touches like being able to buy essential groceries when needed

We enjoyed visiting port Louis, Quiberon and the train from Auray and Vannes but have also made use of the Moreac park which is great and brilliant. Children / family swimming pool at Pontivy twice when the weather has been wet

Thank you both very much

Clare, Steve, Louis and Jack, Christchurch, Dorset, July / August 2015

We have had a fantastic stay at the Cider House Gite

A brilliant Gite with lots to do in the surrounding area

Thank you for being excellent hosts

The Gunn Family, Stockport, July / August 2015

11th July – 25th July 2015.

Our second fantastic stay at Le Grange Gites and Willow

The kids had a wonderful time meeting up with old friends, and the grown-ups had a 2 week re-union party!

Lesley and Simon have been wonderful hosts again and have been very relaxed with our late evenings and kids! Accommodating our boat has also been very much appreciated.

A trip to Vannes on Bastille Day was a great experience, especially to educate the kids (and grown ups) in a bit of French history.

Sailing at Carnac and the lake at Ploermel (Lac au Duc) were also highlights, as was the “Pere Nicolas” activity centre.

Thank you very much for another perfect holiday.

Elaine, Phil, Tom and Emily, Cumbria, July 2015

Hi Simon and Lesley

Thanks again for a lovely holiday, we all have a great time. The gites were spotless and comfortable. The girls loved the trampoline in particular and also the pool, chickens and of course Daisy the rabbit.

The location was great and in particular we would recommend Josselin for lunch, the pool in Pontivy for a great day out if it gets too hot or rainy, Kingoland was a big hit also and finally, the beach at Quiberon is fantastic with lots of great restaurants and shops on the beach front.

Special mention for the fishing lake, which gave us a brilliant day out, with lots of fish caught (photos to follow).

Have a great summer and thanks again.

Luke, Adrienne, Emily and Amy, Dublin, Ireland, June / July 2015

Sunday 5th July 2015 – Saturday 11th July 2015

We arrived to a very warm welcome by our hosts Simon and Lesley.

We stayed in “Willow Gite” which was very comfortable and had all the equipment to make our stay perfect

The folders provided us with all the information we could possibly need to make our stay perfect.

Our short holiday was really a fishing trip and we had the time of our lives at Simon and Lesley's “secret garden” near Josselin, where the family's private lake is. We will be back !!

Do watch the little DVD which tells the story about all the hard work the family have put into the business, they deserve all the success in the future.

Bramble Gite, we have had a lovely stay here and found it very quiet and a beautiful part of Brittany!

You have made us very welcome and given us loads of advice and help.

The restaurants you recommended have been excellent.

The Veg and Strawberries from the garden were delicious

Kind regards, Gina and Andy, Worcestershire, June 2015

Many thanks, Toni and Steven, Coldfield, West Midlands, June 2015

30th May to 20th June 2015

Our third visit to Le Grange Gites and our first stay in “Willow”

Absolutely delighted with the clean, comfortable, and well-equipped Gite and the tranquil setting.

Lesley and Simon have been wonderful hosts and cannot do enough for you.

We have thoroughly enjoyed eating the homegrown produce from Simons garden and greenhouse – delicious new potatoes, lettuce, rocket, spring onions, sweet juicy strawberries and cucumbers. What a shame we shall not be here to enjoy the beans and courgettes and raspberries the free range eggs never failed to please us with their rich golden yolks.

Trevor has thoroughly enjoyed his fishing both at Radenac and Simons lake at Josselin. At Radenac Trevor caught carp to 16lbs and tench to 5 lbs, but strong winds adversely affected the fishing there, However Simons lake provided us with sheltered conditions, and a very friendly robin who likes ham, cheese and eggs, caught plenty of carp, tench and roach, look out for the kingfisher one sat on Trevor's rod and the swallow tail butterflies

We visited Golf de Rimaison, near Pontivy where Trevor played 5 times (18 holes). It is a friendly club, which offers a very challenging, hilly golf course with wonderful wildlife. I followed Trevor around finding his lost golf balls!

We were spoiled for choice with places to eat out, our favourite local restaurant is the “Faison Dore” in Moreac centre, where we have enjoyed some delicious 4 course lunches with wine for 11.50 euros. Another favourite restaurant is “La Clochette” at Credin run by Bret and Sally

The empty lake at Mer de Bretagne is well worth a visit before it starts to get re-filled from October 2015 – an amazing sight

Thank you again Simon and Lesley, for a wonderful holiday. We look forward to retuning next year.

Valerie and Trevor, Torquay, Devon, May / June 2015
