Excellent – very comfortable – much enjoyed our first visit and hope it will not be our last!

The Davis's, Hampshire, September / October 2013

Our 2nd visit and just as enjoyable

Great weather and some lovely places

Many thanks to Simon and Lesley for being the perfect hosts

Phil and Olga, Cheshire, September 2013

We are leaving after two weeks stay and cannot express how lovely the Gite is, everything you could possibly want is here for a comfortable stay. So well equipped in the kitchen

We have had a lovely stay and can't wait to return, it's so well geared up for little ones as well, we will definitely be returning with our grandchildren, this is our third stay in France, but we will be coming back here, as it's the best place we have stayed.

And thank you to Simon and Lesley for making it all possible with their hard work and the thought that went into it

Till next time

John, Dorothy, Rose and David, Middlesborough, September 2013

We have thoroughly enjoyed our return visit, a real home from home.

The cloudy but dry weather has encouraged us to explore inland. There are some good markets at Pontivy, Locmine and a large one at Auray.

The beach at Men du near Carnac is lovely. And at low tide you join many others gathering cockles, muscles and even oysters!

One highlight was a visit to the musee “Les Sanglots Longs” at Reguiny. We spent a wonderful afternoon having a guided tour by the owner, who is very passionate about her museum. Because of her enthusiasm we have visited several resistances, monuments etc.

Lesley and Simon, as always have ensured the best possible holiday. We hope to return again.

Hope the fish keep biting!

Norman and Sue, Devon, September 2013

Eight in the morning, thrilled like a child,
An eye cast skyward, would the weather be wild.
Ten and we’re hovering, loading our gear,
No apprehensions, no doubts, no worries, no fear.
To the Golfe, to the briny, where the fishes await,
Unknowingly swimming, awaiting their fate.

**************

Our guide is an expert in finding his prey,
Beware little Bass’es, today is our day.
The boats in the water. And the pulses do race,
One look tells a story, a smile on my face.
“We’ll troll past this island, a real likely swim,”
Not chosen for beauty or at Simons whim.

**************

“It’s here where the bass are just waiting to strike”
“I’ve caught here before, it’s a spot that I like.”
Nothing at first, still our expectancy’s fine,
Then wallop, a hit, and weight on the line.
Just the first of our ten on that red-letter day,
What a bass fishing debut, worth double the pay.

Ode to Simon

Thanks again for making us so welcome

So enjoyed our time here

We have had another lovely holiday at Le Grange Gites, this time staying in Cider House Gite. This year our two daughters, their husbands and our ten-month-old grandson joined us. Little Theo loved the pool and swings in the garden.

We found the Gite spacious and comfortable for us all.

We visited Josselin, Carnac, Vannes and the Sculpture Park – also the Moreac village lake area.

At Carnac we went on the petit train around the standing stones and along the promenade, there is English commentary, which helps!

Thanks to Simon and Lesley for their friendly welcome and for their assistance, particularly when we had a problem with our hire car. Also I've appreciated the garden produced and the delicious jam and chutneys.

We hope to return again in the future

Sylvia, John, Angela, Jon, Theo, Sarah and Francis (Cheshire, Sussex and Birmingham), September 2013

After years of travelling and now with our 2 children (10 months and 3 ½ years) we have finally cracked it.

The brief journey from London to Portsmouth followed by a easy overnight ferry and another short journey to Ivy Gite; had us relaxed in moments

This is a wonderful place to switch off. The garden is perfect for our son who is learning to crawl and our daughter adored the pool.

The location of this place is perfect to explore Southern Brittany. Nothing was more than a brief drive and with no traffic lights or queues we cruised.

The beaches are stunning and if the day is cloudy there was enough to see in the local towns

Simon and Lesley's own lake is worth a visit for the location alone.

We leave here after 9 days, happy and refreshed with a daughter very sad to leave the pool, chickens, rabbit, the cows in the field and the spiders in the shed!

Thanks for a great stay and wonderful memories

The Taylor Clan, Surrey, September 2013

P.S. Best Pan-au-Chocolates are from the bakery next to the supermarket in Moreac

We have had a lovely week here in Moreac, beautiful weather all week

The children really enjoyed the pool and play area and would have been happy to stay out there all day everyday!

Lovely Gite and very friendly hosts

Robert, Sarah and family, Hertfordshire , August / September 2013

The set up here is great, with the swimming pool a boon for kids.

It was a pleasure to meet you Simon and Lesley and so nice for the kids to be able to feed the chickens and rabbit and for us to consume your fresh produce.

The Pollard family, Hampton, August 2013

Lovely time spent at “Le Grange Gites”

Simon and Lesley have been great hosts. Emily our 7 yr old has loved the pool and thoroughly enjoyed playing with all the other children staying here.

If you are in need of a great Pizza head to the Le Vieux Pressoir in Moreac – we brought wood-fired pizzas to take away – delicious! Had delicious crepes too at L'Epi Dor in Locmine.

Fantastic beach at Suscinio, South of Vannes – nice and shallow for children and beach goes on for miles.

Wish we'd been able to stay for longer!

Thanks, Sally, Andy and Emily, Hampshire, August 2013

We are at then end of a great week in Ivy Gite.

The Gite is very well equipped and Lesley and Simon are great hosts

The garden and pool was a huge hit with our children. Much time was also spent “looking after” many caterpillars!

The location is excellent and we have just scratched the surface. We recommend the new Pizza place in Moreac. We visited Ile aux Moines, Vannes, Dinan and Josselin (via the fishing lake)

A good time was had by all, we also enjoyed the fantastic polytunnel and having veg / salad picked to order

Thanks for a great stay!

The McPartlands, Cheshire, August 2013

Another wonderful and relaxing holiday in Simon and Lesley's Gites. (Our 6 th at Le Grange Gites)

We have come to love this area as it reminds us of home (Southern Cape South Africa)

Our find this year was Pontivy's new great indoor swimming spadium.

Boys are smiling as Caleb caught a Grass Carp, Pike, Roach and Bream, and Alan caught Carp and Bream – I Think! Also Caleb caught a nice Sea Bass when both Caleb and Alan went fishing in the Golfe de Morbihan on Simon's boat

Josh enjoyed the evening walks at Requiny where we saw our otter in the lake most evenings.

Have a wonderful year!

Alan, Cindy, Josh and Caleb, Bath, August 2013

A very big thank you to Simon and Lesley for our wonderful time here once again.

The Gite was excellent, the welcome outstanding and the whole experience superb

So sorry we have to leave tomorrow!

John, Angie and Alfie (7), Sainte-Pol-de Leon, France, August 2013

P.S our grandson's first fish caught!

This was our first holiday abroad with our two girls Lily-Ann and Grace.

We've had a great time, with lots to do in the local area. We loved the beach at Erdeven, such great weather

Our girls loved the garden and pool – they didn't want to get out

The children enjoyed time at Le Petit Delire – with indoor play, bouncy castles adventure park and water play – lots to keep them busy

We've found the Gite very well equipped and Lesley and Simon very friendly

We've already booked for our holiday next year

Many thanks

Diane, Andrew, lily-Ann and Grace, Leicestershire, August 2013

We have really enjoyed our first visit to Brittany and found the Gites to be an ideal and friendly place to stay.

Thanks very much Lesley and Simon for the lovely environment you have created here.

As for activities, we certainly thought there was lots to do. Our favourites were:

Adventure – Foret Adrenaline, Le Hahon, Carnac (high ropes)

Beach – Kerhilio, nr Erdeven

Scenery – Larmor Baden / L'ile de Berder

Eating Out – Rive Shade, St Augustine, Auray

Local Restaurant – Le Churrasco, Locmine

Castles – Suscinio and Josselin

But best of all was the Pool! (Charley – 7 and Harry – 12)

Martin, Liz, Charley and Harry, Wiltshire, August 2013

We have enjoyed our 2 weeks at Le Grange Gites; this was our first time in France for 15 years.

Simon and Lesley are very good hosts and always helpful (ask Simon about the Lake Nr Josselin, excellent if you've brought bikes)

We've visited many places over the 2 weeks the best bits: -

Carnac is lovely for the beach; a ride on the train is well worth it.

Josselin is great to walk around the nice shops and good food

Sculpture park nr Bignan is great but you'll need a couple of visits to enjoy it all (good job its free entry)

Chateau of Suscinio and beach are also very nice, Beach is better at Carnac though

The Garden and Pool around the Gite was fantastic for our 4 year old, who managed to get rid of his stabilizers while we were there.

All in all a fantastic holiday and one we'll remember for a long time

Thank you, Mark, Andrea and Thomas, Nottinghamshire, August 2013

On 10 Aug 2013
We first came to the Gites two years ago and returned as a family because we remembered the gites as being very child friendly. Indeed they were even more child friendly than we remembered. Our family, grandparents with their three children and partners and five grandchildren aged 7 to 20 months, had the two big gites, Ivy and Cider House, they were a perfect size for us (8 adults and 5 children)

The children loved it from the start. It was so safe even the youngest was able to play without too much adult interference. The girls loved the den, where they could hide away from us and do their own thing. The swimming pool was lovely, warm and welcoming yet safe and plenty big enough for us all to enjoy. Lesley and Simon provided an excellent variety of toys and games both indoors and outdoors. The children would have been happy to play there all day.
The facilities were good, every gadget and pan you could need were provided and Cider House was perfect for us all to eat in if the evening was too cold to eat outdoors.

The gites were comfortable and we really appreciated the stair gates that kept the little ones safe.
We loved the local park, excellent playground facilities.

We visited the sculpture park at Bignan and had a lovely walk around the grounds.
Josselin is a lovely town to visit. We climbed the Church tower ( all free) and the water clock in the park was a great hit.

We can recommend the eggs, lovely golden yolks and we enjoyed the chutney! The pastries from the local bakery were delicious...very more-ish...not good for the waistline!
The only downside was getting there and back. We went via the channel Tunnel and it really is too far to drive on busy weekends. The payage near Le Havre had a queue of 1 hour 40 mins just to pay. It made us late for the train and many people had to pay an extra £35 because they were more than 2 hours late. We would suggest a nearer ferry, Caen, Roscoff or St Malo rather than Calais.

One of the party was ill during their stay and needed medical treatment urgently. Lesley and Simon were very helpful, getting him an appointment and then helping us get a clinic visit. Lesley even offered to go with him to help with translation.

Thanks to you both for helping us have a super holiday.
The Greaves Family, Grimsby, August 2013

Thank you to Lesley and Simon for a friendly welcome and relaxing holiday.

Our two children have had a wonderful time playing in the garden and feeding the best-fed chickens and rabbit in Brittany!

Over the last two weeks we have worked our way through the “out and about” recommendations and have had some great day trips.

We particularly enjoyed the Chateau Suscinio and beach, Carnac Plage and the train ride to Quiberon (we got the from the “Carnac” stop to shorten the journey slightly with two young children)

Thanks for all your help (especially with medical translation!)

Best wishes, Helen, Paul, Dominic (5) and Maddy (2), Hertfordshire, July / August 2013

We've had a wonderful week here in our lovely “Bramble Gite” you've managed to make this place so perfect for our needs.

Totally safe and secure gardens for our 2 year old Houdini!

A gorgeous swimming pool – for our 4 year old who can nearly swim now!!!

And Wi-Fi ! – for our 15 year old – what would happen if she couldn't keep up to date on Twitter / Tumblr / Instagram ?!

And a lovely place for the grown ups to relax with a glass of wine in the evening

So many places that we managed to visit

Carnac, Josselin, Quiberon (by train from Auray), Vannes, Auray – All beautiful we especially loved Josselin and our 15 year old loved the shops in Auray

We hope to return, hopefully next year (though we have our own renovation on the go, so not sure !?)

Thank you for all your help and for making this holiday so easy for us!

The McCarthy Family, Gloucestershire, July / August 2013

Fantastic stay in the Cider House. Still plenty of places we would like to visit and return to from when we came last year!.

So we'll be back. Obviously the facilities which you provide for the children makes it a relaxing stay for all the family.

Have a good year Lesley and Simon !

Many thanks Sarah, Phil, Elodie and Frank, Stroud, Gloucestershire, July / August 2013

This is our 2nd visit and it was a fantastic week.

The Gites facilities were excellent; the garden was enjoyed by all. Lesley did some babysitting for us; the children loved her and actually asked us to go out at night so they could “chat” to Lesley

We filled our week as follows:

Sunday: Branfere Zoo – Excellent

Monday: Parc de la Prehistorie (Dinosaurs) - Excellent

Tuesday: Zoo in Pont Scorff – Average

Wednesday: Le Petit Delire – a Brilliant play area (indoors and outdoors) with racing cars, bouncy castles, climbing, water area, located off the Auray exit (D768) of the N165.

Thursday: Locmine Market (Morning)- Good and the Ferme du Monde – Average

Friday: Le Petit Delire again – its that good!

Don't miss the playgrounds in Moreac if you have small children – just fantastic

We ate in the following restaurants: Le Churrasco (Locmine) and Au Vieux Pressoir (Moreac). Both were great

So Simon and Lesley, thanks for a great week of holidays,

Allan, Mary, Emma(5), Liam (4) and Laura (2), Dublin, Ireland, June 2013

We have lost count of the number of years we have returned to Le Grange Gites. I don't think we would ever consider going anywhere else, as it has always suited our every need. The Gites are very well equipped, with everything you could possibly require to have an enjoyable stay. Our children were much younger when we first visited, but even now they are reaching their adult lives the Gites are still the perfect location for us all.

Although the local shops are only a short drive away, Simon and Lesley have emergency supplies for sale as well as fresh produce and the most wonderful fresh eggs from their own hens.

The Gites are ideally located within a short drive from lots of places of interest in Southern Brittany and our favourite places to visit include the quaint fishing port of Saint Goustan with its' picturesque beauty and numerous art galleries and the beach at Quiberon.

Our holiday this year, in June, was made with the intention of finding a property in Brittany. Simon and Lesley were extremely helpful in providing us with important information about the system in France, and what we needed to consider regarding the properties we looked at during the week. Without that advice, we believe that we may have blindly made an offer on a property without considering potential issues with that purchase. They were available to discuss questions that arose as the week progressed, and their advice and recommendations were invaluable. Whether you go to the Gites for a holiday, or as a base from which to look for your own property to purchase in France, we would highly recommend it.

Jo, Alan, Talli and Dom Shaw , Solihull, June 2013

We had a very enjoyable first French holiday.

The Gite was ideal for our family, and with the BBQ, pool etc proved an ideal base for a day at the Gites or visits to the surrounding area.

Our favourite destination was Suscinio – a great castle for a family visit, lovely beach and good birdwatching

Thanks to our hosts for preparing the Gite so thoughtfully. We may be back, god-willing.

Mark, Rae and family, Isle of Lewis, Scotland, June 2013

10-day stay from 10th June 2013, Lovely Gite, well looked after by Simon and Lesley.

Lovely area, we enjoyed Carnac, I'm a birdwatcher and will submit a report to Simon to add to the bird watching website page.

Enjoyed eating out in many places, two being Churasco in Locmine for a nice Pizza, beware the sorbet very alcoholic! The 4 Seasons in Moreac was superb , nice surroundings and good food.

All towns in the area worth a visit.

We ventured to Brière Marshes for bird watching, (for info the reserve at Rose is open July and August although you can walk along the canals and see into the reserve from the outside, good for blue throat!)

The “Huite” restaurant on the Ile de Fedrun serves lovely food

Sene reserve also good (reserve here open after 14:00), and Duer is well worth a visit and is open all day, two hides here

Once again many thanks and the very best, regards

Phil and Olga, Cheshire, June 2013

We have had a fantastic week here in Willow Gite

We all had a great time in the pool, especially Thomas, couldn't get him out!

Visits to Suscinio Castle and Beach also Quiberon highly recommended, and the war museum at Reguiny was a real hit with Richard

Also highly recommended is a trip to Simon and Lesley's fishing lake very peaceful and tranquil and a lovely walk from the lake to Josselin along the canal.

Thank you Simon and Lesley for another great week!

Tina, Richard & Thomas, Exeter, Devon, May / June 2013

Everything from initial enquiry through to holiday was fantastic.

Simon and Lesley were so responsive and helpful, even organising our daughters 4 th birthday cake with a local baker.

Having them on site was a real bonus especially for wine supply!

The Gite was extremely well equipped and clean, and the garden couldn't have been better for the kids

Great location to get to numerous beaches or inland towns / resorts, set in a beautiful country location on the edge of the town

The whole family have had a great holiday and will take back many fond memories. Just have to plan our return visit at some point …!

Ian, Julie, Grace and Ellen (plus Gran and Papa)

Co Armagh, Northern Ireland, May / June 2013

Lovely Gite, lovely garden and pool greatly enjoyed by the girls, although this was a working holiday on our own house, its nice to come back to a comfortable place, thanks for your advice and help on places to buy building materials

Many thanks

Paul, Sam, Lucy, Emma, Sophie, David and Lynne, North Yorkshire, May 2013

Had a great time. Thanks Lesley and Simon.

Ella loved the garden, especially the trampoline.

Nice Area. We particularly liked Suscinio Castle and Beach; we were the only ones there. Nice wildlife around the beach area.

Kervoyal beach near Damgan was also good. Nice quiet haven – boats bobbing and white sand, very calm water

Alan, Sally and Ella, Crystal Palace, May 2013

Sue and I have enjoyed our week's stay and have been made to feel very welcome.

We found the Gite to be very comfortable and centrally located for many of the beautiful villages and towns in the area.

It has been quiet, being outside school holidays, and afforded us the time to relax, and generally unwind.

Simon and Lesley were helpful in pointing out that although we had already booked a ferry with Brittany Ferries that if we used a code provided by them, that we could obtain the discount. Saved enough for a meal out!

Will certainly recommend to our friends

Nigel and Sue, Wiltshire, May 2013

Dear Simon and Lesley,

We had a wonderful time at Le Grange Gites. I fell in love with the Cider House and wish I could have picked it up and brought it home here! It was a shame that the weather wasn't so good, but this was our 7th holiday in France and the first time we have had some not so good weather. So we cannot complain.

Charlotte loved feeding the chickens and is now asking "Can we have chickens Mum?"

We visited Josselin, which was beautiful. We loved the old streets and the chateau and had a walk by the river.

One place that we found very interesting and good value for money was the Musee de la Resistance Bretonne in St. Marcel. We visited on a day when it rained, but as the majority of the exhibits are inside, this turned out to be a good place to visit. Also, they provide a handy booklet with all the information translated into English, so we knew what we were looking at!

We enjoyed The Sculpture Park, some beautiful walks and somewhere nice to sit for a coffee!

We will come back again; we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and thank you very much.

Best wishes

Sue and Bill, Cornwall, April 2013

We are here for a few days to finalise things after selling our house in Moreac.

We have the Gite very quiet and peaceful, very comfortable and warm.

We have visited a few of our favourite places. St Goustan (Port of Auray) for morning coffee and then a walk up the hill to Auray for the Monday Market.

We have walked around the “L'Etang de la foret” on the road to Auray; it's my favourite lake walk.

The Lac au Duc just past Josselin has a man-made beach, great for kids with lots of activities.

Rochefort-en-Terre is great for antiques, but best to go there after lunch as nothing much opens in the mornings.

St Nicholas des Eaux is very pretty, lovely for a picnic lunch or lunch in one of the restaurants

Many thanks to Simon and Lesley

Charlie and Wendy, Devon, April 2013

We have had a lovely time and like the Gite and the way you have everything organised, clear and straightforward.

Value for money is excellent and you are both very helpful and pleasant.

Thanks very much and we hope to return
